Let's do a quick exercise in imagining—picture a time you’ve been at Pine Brook and have had time to do a personal devo. Maybe you’ve sat under a tree or by the pond, experiencing God’s creation while spending time with Him. This time was peaceful, wasn’t it?
Now think about your devo time when you’re at home, in the midst of your busy life. Some of you may have rock-solid routines when it comes to spending time with God daily. For some of us, however, setting that time aside becomes difficult when we have so many other things vying for our attention.
Here’s where we can help by providing tips on capturing the peace you feel spending time with God at Camp in your regular setting.
Pick a set time every day. Whether it’s first thing when you wake up in the morning or right before you head to bed, picking a consistent time for your devo is essential.
Remove any distractions. Turn the TV off and put your phone on Do Not Disturb mode.
Find somewhere calming to sit. If the weather’s nice, you can sit outside. Otherwise, we suggest finding a quiet spot where you are unlikely to be interrupted.
These three tips are practiced at Camp and, when implemented at home, can be super helpful in aiding a peaceful and productive time spent with our Creator. Check back next week for more tips on Bringing Camp Home!
